MISSION of CHPC

About Us

The California Health Professions Consortium (CHPC) is a statewide coalition of individuals, organizations, and pipeline programs working together to strengthen California’s health workforce. CHPC develops and supports statewide and regional strategies to expand access to health careers for local students and graduates. It provides a forum for cross-sector and cross-education level dialogue and serves as a platform for collective action to improve workforce resilience.

Founded in December 2006, CHPC began with 12 individuals and has grown to over 1,000 members representing more than 400 organizations. Members span sectors including healthcare providers, health plans, K–12 and higher education, pipeline programs, and policy organizations. CHPC hosts an annual statewide conference and continues to serve as a cross-sector forum to increase the supply of locally trained professionals and address persistent workforce shortages.

CHPC is administered by Health Career Connection, and co-chaired by:

  • Jeff Oxendine, Founder and CEO of Health Career Connection
  • Dr. Katherine Flores, Director of the UCSF Fresno Latino Center for Medical Education and Research and Associate Clinical Professor at University of California, San Francisco
