What’s New at HCC: Growth, Impact & What’s Ahead

November 24, 2025

As we celebrate our 35th year, HCC is growing faster and farther than ever, expanding our reach, strengthening our programs, and building new pathways for emerging health leaders across the country. Here’s what’s new and what’s next.

New Regional Expansion: Chicago Launches in 2025

This past summer, we proudly launched our newest HCC region in Chicago, expanding internship and workforce development opportunities across the Midwest. This marks an important milestone as we continue to scale HCC’s impact in major health markets nationwide.

Expanding Through the Kresge Foundation: Tennessee, Here We Come

Thanks to generous support from the Kresge Foundation, HCC is preparing to expand into Tennessee, bringing our proven model to new communities in 2026. This investment strengthens our ability to build a health workforce that reflects and serves the communities that need it most.

Strengthening Community Health Leaders

We’re also thrilled to share renewed funding for our Community Health Leaders (CHL) program—formerly known as Health Equity Scholars. This program continues to uplift students committed to community-based health work, providing leadership development, mentorship, and experience that drives real community impact.

Welcoming New Alumni to Our Board

We are honored to welcome three HCC alumni, Vidiana Birts, Oliver Chu, and Shelby Decosta, to the HCC Board of Directors. Their leadership, lived experience, and commitment to our mission reflect the very best of HCC’s legacy and future.

With new regions, new investments, expanded programming, and alumni leaders guiding the way, HCC is entering its 35th year with more momentum than ever.
